Details? Sometimes you guys kill me. I call drain cleaning details "Drain Porn" for the pros.

My drain cleaning experience is very limited but help from here and from Gear(Ben) has been great.

The first job was not the drain so the machine didn't even leave the truck.
Turns out the W/M isn't vented properly making things misbehave.

The second job was at a church/commercial property. Two bathrooms side by side with the ever present black dried circle around both floor drains. I run some water in both lavs & flush to get an idea of what's where. It appears to be near the main drain junction. So I take the 5/8" cable with a bulb auger and go through the floor drain. It feels like I make contact with something about 15' in. Give it the back and forth and away the water goes. Pull the cable back and have very little paper on the head. So I go back in again a little further while running/flushing everything. No backups. All functioning great.

Good enough? Need a towel or drink of water?

          J.C.

                  Re: Broke my Sectional Cherry...

As stated, my draincleaning experience is limited as well as hands on the machinery. So a K-60 might be highly above my I95. I can't say as I have not operated a k-60 & haven't put the I95 into anything real tough yet.

Common sense wise, to me it feels like a quality product. They're both pretty simple machines that seem pretty indestructible besides the normal wear parts. The K-60 is rated at 1/2hp while the I95 I have is 1/3hp. 1/2hp is optional if needed.

I have 7/8" & 5/8" General cables. Don't know how they compare to say Ridgids. Anyone care to comment?

I like the cages. As Ben pointed out to me, they can be loaded from either side.

The guide hose is metal lined. Is the K-60's? I don't know.

It also came with the larger sink drum for the back with 3/8" cable w/35'.

In short, I like it but need more time on it for a real opinion. Pretty versatile. Looking forward to running it more.

                  Also looking at drum machines.

                  J.C.

Only comment i can make about a general is that their customer service is no where near what we have come to expect from ridgid. Lets be realistic tools break. Here we can give Ridgid direct feedback on their products and ways to improve their design. No one else can even come close to the amount of direct contact we have with a manufacturer and no other manufacturer stands behind thier product as well. Other than those sawdust makers I have never seen a serious complaint about Ridgid tools that has not been taken seriously and corrected ASAP to the best of Ridgid's ability. Keep up the great work ProBrand, Josh, Smorris and other whom I may have not mentioned... It is you guys that are building Ridgids reputation!

                          Re: Broke my Sectional Cherry...

I don't know. Depends on where you are at. I have a local distributor that will wrestle most anything you need like a bulldog from General.

If I had a Ridgid problem, I would come here first. The regulars can probably give you an answer faster than Ridgid. (No offense Ridgid) Then Ridgid itself can put their eyes on it. That's a plus General does not have.

Without this forum it would be a tossup for me. How often do you really need to service a sectional machine other than maybe jaw replacement & belt?
