  • Saved a restaurant from an outrageous bill.

Restaurant called with serious stoppage overflowing out the floor-drains in the dish-pit. The manager said one of their employees got a snake stuck in the drain and had to cut it off! Then they got a quote from another plumbing company to break up the entire floor and repipe the drain, but they needed service NOW! I was hesitant since the broken cable and quote to break up the floor made it sound scary. But I went out there anyway on agreement that I be paid C.O.D. WITHOUT GUARANTEE TO CLEAR IT. They agreed.

I get there and a flat-tape is broken off in the floor drain, that some kitchen-hand tried to use to clear it himself! I pulled it out in about 5 seconds with a monster pair of channel-locks and some leverage. All the tough guys that work in the kitchen had already tried and couldn't budge it...like the sword in the stone story! Then I put my K-380 to work and about 10' in I hit a monster blockage, cable almost flipped. I pull it out and all the water drains away....WOOOSH. It was a giant ball of steel wool. THATS IT!

I told them never to call the other company ever again that quoted them to breakup the floor and repipe the drains....they never even attempted to clear it. I told her that its a shame that some companies prefer to rip people off rather than fix the problem in a reasonable manner, but that SHE SHOULD REMEMBER, NOT ALL PLUMBERS ARE LIKE THAT. It looks like the 'rape' companies that Mark and Rick talk about are sprouting up here too.

The manager paid me and gave me a smile and told me I was the best plumber they ever had come out in the past 10 years that she had worked there, she asked for 10 of my magnetic cards to hand out to managers and employees. I feel like a super-hero, now I know how PlumberRick feels running around in his red cape.

      Great job Carl.
Now I'm starting to get the idea why you guys like doing service.
Sometimes the community looks up to you like some kind of fireman, lifesaver or stud.

Hey,why is there PVC in what is supposed to be a commercial restaraunt?

I liked the code better in New York, ONLY metallic pipe allowed on commercial kitchen drains.

It was 6 pm. They didn't offer. I always refuse.

Some places even offer me beer, even though I drove there to work and have to drive home! I don't want a DUI...then my business is over.
