  • Replacing Sewer Lines And Getting Paid

After seeing Steve's thread, it made me wonder.

Say you are snaking a drain and your snake gets stuck. You shove a camera down and you see the main line is shot. It needs to be replaced. Now what if the homeowner doesn't have the money for it and they don't have enough money on credit cards. What do you do? - The Trusted Online Community For Homeowners and Contractors.

        Thats a tough one.
I've been to a few "the other guy said it was broke" calls.
I tell the customer I will do everything in my power to keep them from digging (big $$ here) but I could get my snake stuck in doing so, and I won't be responsible for the cost of getting it out.

I don't mind leaving my equipment for a few days as I use a sectional and if I'm cut short I could always rent some.

To be honest, I've never thought about whether a customer could afford to have it dug up soon.??????

        Good question.
