  • Is there a difference between the k50 & k400?

I have the K50. Very powerful, very expensive, and a pain to set up.

The K400 has a 1/3 hp vs. 1/6 hp, self contained, heavy, on wheels, and cheaper...but limited in length of cable.

Are the two comparable as far as drain cleaning power (with the 1/2 cable)?

If you are looking for power the K50 is the machine. The 400 is a good machine for quick and easy light blockages. The K50 may take a little more setup but it is a superior machine.

        prime example yesterday.

2'' laundry standpipe stoppage, continuing to kitchen. no c/o.

ran 5/8'' sectional cable with bulb auger into 2'' laundry standpipe, through trap and 35' to clear stoppage and continue into 2'' common kitchen line.

        hit hard lint and grease.

        try getting a 1/2'' drum cable through a 2'' p-trap

i set the k-50 on top of the laundry machine with a neoprene yoga mat

        try that with a 400

the 50 has the power, and the adaptability to get it done.

the instant clutch keeps it safe and the ability to run both 5/8'' sectional and small drum canisters. i personally don't use the drum, but others do.

try lifting a 400 with 75' of cable onto a roof, compared to a 50

        need i say more

Thanks. I was just curious. I have had nothing but good luck with the K50.
