  • Power Inverter for Large Drum Machines

Anybody out there using a power inverter instead of a generator to power a large drum machine like the Ridgid k7500, Gorlitz GO68 or other large sewer machine.

    If so,

    What size do you use?

    Brand recommendation?

I've been doing a lot of preventive maintenance cleaning and video on gutted homes with no electricity relying on the contractor to supply the generator but this is a hassle sometimes, and I have no room left for a generator.

Sometimes the 2000 watt generators bog down a lot with my big machine, so I'm looking at a 3000 watt power inverter.

    Your opinions?

    Thanks.

lenny, truthfully, a generator would be a whole lot cheaper and easier on your truck and charging system.

i take it you saw my set up and started to think

my big truck has room for the generator, my sprinter does not. but the sprinter was set up with a factory second battery and a large 220 amp alternator.

to get an inverter to work properly and a battery to charge, you'll spend a lot more than what a decent generator will cost.

i would think about a 12 volt motor swap on the machine.

1 of my 750 machines is 12 volt and it draws 40 amps. much less than the 150 amps the inverter draws.

my other truck has a 2500 watt generator and it powers up my machine and even a core drilling machine.

Yes, its the first time I even realized the inverters went up that high.

Before that I thought they only had the lighter plug in type.

The exchange of ideas here is what keeps me coming back for more.

I really need to get an extended van.

I bought my seesnake plus in January. That along with my 3 drum machines and 13hp, 5gpm portable jetter has made things extra tight.

I may need to go sectional to gain more space.

I'm also considering building a platform over my big machine.

lenny, there are comapnies that make a generator that runs from your engine belts. pretty spendy, but very powerful and takes up no interior room.

diesel is a better choice for this set up, but gas will also run fine.

do a google search or i will find a link for you.

Found this, looks like a pricey alternative.
