  • Stuck Sectional Head :(

I have a bulb auger stuck on a 5/8" sectional cable that the pin won't release. Any tips on how to get to release? Tried penetrating oil. It will move about 1/2 way but no more. Hate to have to make it the "bulb cable".

    Thanks for any ideas.

You may want to set it on an anvil type location and give it a good wack with a hammer and an 8-penny nail. Make sure you are wearing eye protection and gloves.

Thanks. I will. Tried that with the little "circle wrench" but not sure if I got a direct hit or not with the rounded edge.

I'll see if I have some nails around.

I use a nail countersink punch with the tip cut off to be as close to the ID of the hole as possible and lots of swearing.

So you've had one stuck before I take it?

You talking about what we call a "nail set" in the South? Used on wood trim?

it's only the 5/8'' that i've had issues with. never had one not release. only had a few that the spring won't spring back.

same issues i had with the 3/4'' drum cable and the 1/2 eccentric screw that turns to hold the connector.

remember that these cable are always submerged in the bad stuff.

i spray my connectors with wd40 every few runs.

Nope. I thought you were talking about a lock pin/roll pin, not the spring loaded type. In that case I would smash it with a hammer and of course swear a lot!

The swearing is usually very helpful. I've been making a conscious effort to not do it as much 'cause it was getting out of hand.

No reason to say "Where's my f***in' hammer?"

                    Gotta' try at least.
