Broken cable with a root cutter that you retrieved with an auger, and cut the cable because you couldn't get them apart?????

Possibly a broken cable you retrieved out of a drain, or it is the latest and greatest new cable on the market

            Is it something PlumberRick made?

Looks like a good contraption to cut the root then grab the ball to pull it out

How did you make the connection with the auger and cable?
              Buy cheap, buy twice.

It's a cable that broke, was caught by a retriever which also broke, and you brought it back with yet another retriever.

Looks like 3 or 4" C-cutters that either came apart at the 2' leader, and you ran the retriever to get it.

Probably bound up/locked into a misaligned piece of clay and couldn't get it back out,

your machine was stronger and you got the prize.

They do make cables set up like that but not with the retriever on the backside.

Not unless you're trying to move soft matter along the way, which we'd use a retriever for that at times with a blow-bag. Anything it took to get it open.

Retriever is still good, given the slotted end.

                        Those are spartan cables.

That's something not mentioned on this site; when you lodge a cable in with a sectional, you got two choices; either throw it in reverse and listen to that clutch scream, trying to unwind that cable which is dangerous because it's going to rebound, or you are going to have to pull it out by hand.

Pulling it out by hand means you need a lot of distance because that open wind allows for a large distance, and god help you when it breaks free. You're going to be the measure of how far you pulled it.

                        LOOK OUT!

Its lucky thats what it is. Three weeks ago we got a call for a multi family house thats stopped up. We cleared the blockage with our sectionals and a two blade cutter. The owner used drain cleaner so we told him if it stops up again we would camera the line then. Get called last night 10pm go out there take the 7500 in with the two blade cutter, figure no problem should get right thru it. The cable binds up and then pops ok is it open, don't hear the water moving, pull the cable back and the 2 foot leader is cut and no cutter. Sent the camera in underwater from 24 feet to 38 dead stop. we tried to get it out no luck, its now midnight we will be back 8 am. Send the camera still underwater. 7500 with the retriever its getting bound up, pull the cable back 4 feet shut down the machine and push the camera in. We see the 2 blade in the retriever pull them both back together. Talk about lucky. Turns out we send the camera back in and at 38 feet it rides up out of the water enough to see and we are looking at the side of an 8" Sch80 forced main that was installed 3 months ago. The contractor will be out there tomorrow. I am going to have to try and seperate the leader from the retriever they won't just pull apart.

Exactly what kind of sectionals did you use to use? Electric eel? The majority of sectionals lose all tension when you lift the handle because there's nothing in contact with the cable.
