    Re: ridgid k-1000 sewer rodder

i looked at it yesterday and was awful close to buying it. but then i thought what will i do with a machine that can only be used for straight manhole to manhole applications?

    great price in great condition.

i pulled up the specs and went back and forth. even did a mapquest for the picking it up in san jose.

this should actually buy me points with joey as i had the willpower to just say no

joey why do you think i asked you where san jose was yesterday

    welcome to the forum rooterboy

get use to having to answer to joey

p.s. better use spell check too

        Re: ridgid k-1000 sewer rodder

        Morning there Rick,

I own a K-1000 it is a great machine, not only does it spin the 3/8" steel rods for straight manhole to manhole lines, it can also spin the 1 1/4" cable. I have a short 3/8" solid rod with the small end to attach to the machine and the other end has the 1 1/4" connector.

The jetter does 98% of the work for me, even in the larger lines, but there are some lines the jetter just could not make a dent through. So the K-1000 gets ran through its paces. Just one thing if you do run the solid 3/8" rods make sure you have a good Marco style retriever. Sometimes when you are on a real tough blockage and the rod is rubbing against the manhole wall the heat will cause it to snap.

Well anyways just wanted to let you know about my experiences with the machine. If you ever do get one and need some tips and such feel free to give me a call anytime.

          thanks for the offer ron

i went back and forth on this machine.

          great price and great condition.

i saw that it has the adapter for the larger 1500 cutters and knew it will run 1500 cables.

i already own the 1500 and general 82/ same as the eel plus my timberwolf

truthfully i don't get into manhole cleaning. our local cities take care of all manhole to manhole. i've done some private large industrial ones, but the jetter is faster and i still have my other machines.

if i purchased it, it would be something i would just put into my museum

i keep telling josh to turn the lights off when he's done filming

Lol I have a museum as well. I have many machines my father and I collected over the many years. When I get over to my dad's place and clean out his garage I will take pictures of some of the other oddities and share them with you all.

              OMG Rick, you said no?!

Why on earth would you say no? Just because you don't do the only work it is good for and already own a better piece of equipment for that work if you ever do?

THAT'S NO REASON! YOU DON'T HAVE ONE! NOW THAT is a REASON!

You better go buy it or I'll take up a collection and we'll post pics of it grinding a K-60 (not a cable, an actual K-60) through a line.
