Re: Average house sewer line lengths

It depends on what city I am in and what side of the street in some cases. For example Lagrange Highlands the homes all where on septics and put on sewers later. The septic tanks where out back so the sewer has to wrap around the house then out to the street. For the lucky homeowners that have the city sewer on their side there sewers average 125' to 180' Where the people that are on the other side of the street from the city sewer, they average 190' to 250'. Most of them have had multiple cleanouts put in after the fact, to help shorten the runs from clean out to clean out to city sewer.

Now in the city of Chicago anywhere from 25' to 80' depending on which way the sewer came out of the home, or if you are rodding from the catch basin to the city sewer.
