    Re: my new service truck

Make sure you design some type of protection for the driver just in case of a short stop. Good Luck with the truck.

          Re: my new service truck

i have a 1985 version of that truck. the only reason i don't drive it. 5-6 mpg!!!
chevy 350. 13 foot bed. tons of room. but with 90% of my service area 35 miles away. there is no way i'd drive it unless gas was $1 a gal. so i use for storage now. still runs great.

                  5.7 350 automatic trans

                  2 swing doors

my current truck gets 6-7 mpg anyway so with the ability of having everything even my welder and small jetters all in one place. even if it was 3-4 mpg i would not care. i might even put a shoer in. LOL

Funny you should say 15mpg I get that plus depending on how much freeway driving I do which isn't much. I have a cummins 3.9 diesel, thats a four cylinder. Don't get speeding tickets but mpg is worth it.

The mileage isn't what's the killer. Time man, time. That's what's killing me.

yea time maybe but when your service area is 35 miles away and you have to go there 2 or more times a day there it will kill you. currently i put 200 to 300 miles a day on my van. cover a 60 mile raidous. at 15 mpg 20 gal tank = $60 a day...... drop that a third 5 mpg 20 gal tank = $180 a day......
                              x 24 days a month = $2,880.00 a month differance. i could buy a sprinter and pocket 2 grand.
