  • K-1500A Knock off on ebay

    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-SDT-K-1500A-...item2ea9cbbd5e

the url seems long, but search on ebay for:
New SDT K-1500A Pipe Drain Machine fits Ridgid 23712

The frame is actually an improved design with the holder for the cable carrier on the back. $999.99. Looks just like the K-50 knock off that's been on for a while. Wonder how long till the K-60 knock off shows up?

Anyone ever use any of these knock offs. I can only imagine them lasting about 25 uses before having mechanical problems.

    What do you guys think?

I can only imagine that the motor, and cables are of an inferior quality. I do however like the idea of wheels on the spools. I might talk to a welder...

One of the guys over at Plumbing Zone bought the knock-off of the old K-60 last month and gave a very poor review. As I recall he has to take the cover off and spin the motor by hand to get it started.

My old K-500 has hooks on the back so I could carry a rand of cable into the job withthe machine.

I will still try to dig mine out and take a picture of it. Another old time Ridgid rodder I have is known as the K-1500 lowboy, it sits about 6" lower than the standard K-1500 and if I recall it has a single rear leg. I will try to get a picture of it too.

I've seen that one around too. The old model K-75 used to share the same design I think. I see those at the flea markets consistently. I've never picked one up though as I've never seen the use in a machine that only runs 7/8" cable. I'd just assume use the 1-1/4"

swade........you never heard of The k-60? or the 7/8" general innercore cable?

I have an electric eel that i prefer to run, but there are some sewers that the 1-1/4" calbe with the innercore strugles to make turns in. The 7/8" works well!

Why buy a nice coffee mug with a lid when you can buy a whole pack of disposable beer cups for less?

I don't see K-60's used too much. I might consider a K-60. A K-75, no way. Too bulky just for 7/8" cable. Most of my root jobs are 6" clay X 120'

I have plenty of C-11 that will make most any turn. I use a KM-1500
