  • Cleaning blocked urinals.

I hole this hasnt ben discussed before but as I see how good this forum is I bet it has. In their wisdom the manufacturers have changed the integrated traps on our wall hung urinals so that they are real close. Has anuone got a small hose that we can use to push though. I have a 1/8 whip hose but the head and coupling make it too long to navigate the bend at the bottom of the trap. Only other way of claening is to remove urinal off wall and chisel out buildup of calcified urine. Have a small electric jetter capable of "supposedly 1000psi"but I am not sure of this. Just need alternative. Over to you experts with thanks.

i jet using 1/8 inch and a wet vac,go into the trap as far as possible jetting and then pull the urinal and then snake and jet the outgoing line.

Urinals by far are the worst smelling to clean, i would rather clean a boat load of grease traps filled with dead skunks!!!

I do have luck with a urinal auger ..sometimes
I will try it to keep from pulling it off the wall
With the smaller auger cable, i just take it easy and work it slow
        and grind it out..

I run the 5/16 cable right through the trap to clear the urinal trap way. But if its plugged in the wall I will pull the urinal and rod with 5/8 cables. After the lines are flowing I will reset the urinal and put Calci-Solv down the drain. It will dissolve the urine salts in the trap and make the urinal like new again.

I use Calci-Solv first and then snake. Just make sure you flush the line first, before sending your cable down.

I like urinals. especially when they are in bars. I always pull the urinal and give no warranty. The more work I do the more I make

5/16 cable thru trap, go at it easy, sometimes you will need a drop head if you dont want to pull urinel, i usually dont pull urinels unless i have to.

I jet through them when I can, pull them off and jet the line behind them when I can't go through them.

I like doing the bar urninals around here, I trade them for a hundred dollar bar tab and then piss it all back!

                            Dynamite is my preferred method..

The wal-mart around here recently had 0.125 GPF urinals installed. I forget the model but the valves are zurn. We do a lot of service for wal-marts in this area and I'm not looking forward to having to pull those every month or so and scrape away all the calcium deposits with a screwdriver. Pulling them is the preferred method of the boss and guess who is the shops urinal specialist

Urinals are the worst, right up there with grease traps! Anyway, clogged urinals are an almost daily occourance here at the school district. I've tried everything mentioned. What works for me on standup floor models is 1) Miratic acid, followed by flushing, and then a 3/8" snake with no cutter, just a kink on the end to navigate the tight radius durham traps. If the acid does not clear the stoppage first, I vacuum out all the acid water and snake the drain till cleared. 2) For wall hung urinals snakes don't work well for me, so its acid, and if that doesn't work i pull them off the wall and find out what trash is blocking the passage in the urinal, then snake the 2" waste in the wall. The smell of urinals go past a closed mouth and soaks into the gums!
