I saw that on craigslist too. Looks like a real bargain.

I think it's either a Mytana or a Gorlitz? Either way those sled machines are pretty solid, so I hear.

HebertDrainCare should know, he's the Sled King.

          You're the man bull!!

Saw this ad for a K-5800. I've not used one of these before. Looks kinda like a Spartan 300 or an earlier version of the K-6200?

I'm sure Mark knows all about this bad boy

It looks like an old O'Brien machine. It has a light switch right there at the front to turn it on and off.

The K5800 came out in the late 70's right after a Ridgid guy rode around with my dad watching how to use a spartan 1065. My dad was a bit upset all they gave him for his time with the guy that rode around with him was a 1/4" drill, he said if they gave him a 1/2" drill he would of been real happy. The drum that spins is enclosed in that case so no one can touch the spinning drum. If I recall right, it was a plastic gear driven machine. Marvin can probably give you more details about it. I just remember when they came out with it my dad took one look at it and told Marv it is junk.

No idea, I only seen them a couple times. My dad used to have one and is sad he ever sold it. He said it was the best machine he ever used.

That machine looks like a my tana. The k5800 used a 5/8 x 75 cable and had a roller drive on the motor there was also a k6800 with 3/4 x 100 cable these machines were badley balanced they had too much weight in front they stood on the wheels so when you put the cable in by hand they would rool back the 6800 wes too wide to get through most doors. Probaly the worst machine ridge ever made marvin

i would say old roto rooter also they didn't have foot pedals

but you can get one from gorlitz that will work with it

also no forward reverse switch ! !

To get reverse you lock it up in a stoppage then turn switch off

when machine has lots of torque on it when the drum spins

backwards at top speed you hit the on switch then it start

running backwards that was the old way to reverse them

It sure looks like a Roto Rooter 55 machine. The frame definitely is as evidenced by the built in switch box. The reel smacks of RR design too.
