  • Ordered my new sink machine today.

Went with the Duracable DM-138. It's the Newer model of the Viking. Ships out this week.

My old Viking passed away yesterday It died while clearing a kitchen sink drain. Had to hand turn the drum on the old girl. But still cleared the drain.

Thank you for the many years of service old friend. If you guy's hear Taps at sunset It's just Me saying good by to an old friend.

Charging less does not mean more call volume it just means you have to work harder to reach your goals.

They were kind of like What you don't want the cable. Said no it sucks I get my cable from draincables direct. She said I remember you.
You called and ripped into me last year about cable failure.

Re: Ordered my new sink machine today.

I agree 100% cable will make or break a machine. But no matter tha machine and cable the guy using it must know how to properly rod a drain, and know the feel of what that cable is doing in the line.

So how old was your old Viking machine? Also wouldn't of been cheaper to buy a new motor? I have burned out a motor or two on the Spartan 100's. My friend has been using a K-3800 for 10 years now, no issues with it at all other than new cable here and there.

Well enjoy your new machine, you can just ship your old one to me. *grins*

I think the Viking is at least 30 years old. Motor crapped out and there is a roll drive that spins the drum that's worn to nothing. No parts and a plastic support broke. I guess they stopped making them along time ago.
I remember when RR talked about no more parts or replacements back in 1996. found this one in a pawn shop in 1999 $200 bucks $190 took it home.

Why do some purchase equipment from a company that is your competitor?

Machinery that much better and/or cheaper?

                          Just wondering.

                          Thanks.

Do you own Ridgid tools?? If you do and Ridgid sells drain machines to homedepot and home owners buy them to DIY now their your competitors. Or if plumbers buy Ridgid tools there your competitors too.

Duracabe are very well built machines that can take a beating and come back for more.
Next on my list is a K-60 for some tight spots.
Competition is every where and with everyone really does not what or who you buy from.

Yes, but I don't think the correlation is the same. Ridgid, Spartan, Electric Eel, etc. do not own a national franchise in the drain business.

Roto-Rooter and DuraCable are owned by the same company.

And I was asking because I was wondering if it was something else I should consider and maybe I was missing something because others are willing to purchase the equipment knowing they are the same company.

Good to know it's a good machine.
