What type of chuck is this ? Never seen one like this before. Good ? Bad ?

Looks like it is missing the other half of the auto feed assembly. I could be wrong though.

Older chuck design that uses the drill's rotational direction to advance or retrieve the cable... The newer style chuck can advance or retrieve the cable with the drum spinning in either direction.

K-39B has the older / larger / stronger drill as well

K-38 is an even stronger version...

This is the auto feed on the old k40. Worked fine but it could potentially cause the cable to unscrew from the clog when retriving the cable.

not a bad auto feed as it's adjustable and will run from 1/4''- 3/8'' cable. as others have said, you need to put the drill in reverse to retrieve it.

the motor is basically a drill motor and is strong.

i have a few of them that i don't use anymore as i prefer the new dual auto feed, but still your older design is a good solid unit.

I have a K-39AF and a K-39 with that adapter. I like the K-39 with the adapter better. Just personal preference.

It is made for the K-39 and I think it works great…

I just received the unit today. It looks brand new, never used. Is the black sliding/locking chuck supposed to have a lot of play in it ? My K-39AF seems much tighter.
