  • Check out the K-500 I got!

This one looks different from all the other pics I have seen, notice the 500 on the front. Looks like it was used industrial, hope it's a 2hp version but I think it is based on what looks like a 220 plug on it. The big reason to get it was look at all those cutters! Some look like 1065 spartan items but since I have a 1065 all of the items will find good use.

Nice buy. That is the newer version of the K-500 If I recall they had the 1 hp motor on them. If it is wired for 220, its just a matter of rewiring it for 110.

        Hey Ron!
Can you read the side of your motor and tell me what the rpm's are? The one I picked up has a new motor on it but no on/off switch or reverse. I don't want to wire in a switch if the rpm pulley set up is wrong. Lots and lots of blades though

Yea somebody just put a new motor on it and removed the little box with the switch, so I will buy a switch and drill a hole for it in the motor wiring box.

cuda, you will either need a reversing drum switch or a double throw , double pole switch (6 lug connections). i doubt there will be room in the wiring junction box for that switch.

verify that the motor is reversible and i believe it's a 1725rpm motor that it should have.

reverse is important when you get hung up.

Re: Check out the K-500 I got!

yea 1750 motor rpm's took a double pole switch off of a general mini rooter I had lying around, taped around it and wiggled it in. yea not very much room but it fit. Now it works great imagine off forward and reverse the things we take for granted. Rick when I was picking it up the guy 2 of these little hand truck looking things that had small wire cable on them and they where winches he said to pull cameras thru big city sewers. They where powered by ridgid 700 threaders. He said the cable length was around 1k feet. Looked kinda cool for going house to man hole. He said the company that made them has been buying them to restore for $900 but I did not see a brand name. Ever seen one of these? I am thinking of getting one.

cuda, do you really think i would not have one

what you're describing is the puller assembly with a modified shortened 700 acting as the winch motor. the dolly cart straddles the manhole and the drum has a level wind spooler on it.

i'll try to post a photo tomorrow at the one i have in my shop

                      rick.

Are they worth $900 with no 700 included?

1000' of stainless cable is worth that alone.

what are you planning on using it for?

for the 700 to fit properly, it has to be modified with the handle removed.

it's designed to straddle the manhole.

                          rick.

I want to use it to pull long pipe patches in place, and any other thing that comes up. Or maybe a mini pipe burster lol just kidding.
