  • 512 Hz vs 874 Hz stronger signal

My camera and locator have both 512 Hz and 874 Hz
Dose one have a stronger signal than the other?

I'm kind of foggy on this but I think 512hz is for general locating. 512hz puts out a broader/wider signal thats easier to home in on. Once you have homed in on 512hz you can switch to 874hz to be more accurate.

DO NOT TAKE THIS AS FACT as I'm not sure on this. I vaguely remember reading something about it and could be way off.

My Sonde has on and off and it's 512 only never had a problem finding it unless I'm on a vertical.

I do all my locates with a Rycom 815 Hz machine

I do have one of these if someone wants it for $150.00 + Shipping
I use to hook it to my sewer machine cable and trace/map sewers with it.

For your purposes the 512Hz frequency will be "stronger" and the 874Hz frequency will be more "accurate"

If you're having trouble locating something with one frequency switch to the other and it may work better in that situation.
