  • Experience Matters (Even for Drain Cleaning)

because you all like a challenge.....

Take a close look at the pictures and tell me what huge mistake was made when a novice drain cleaner began running the K-1500

When someone guesses correctly I'll tell the rest of the story......it's pretty funny

I'm clueless. Never touched one of those machines. I was going to guess they got some cutter or attachment stuck in the jaws. But then I had no clue why Palmolive would get involved.

          So....I'm lost.

Some say dish soap will help release a stuck cable.

In Pic #1 it looks like he poured some down the cleanout. Got cable stuck ?

I see two guys. Why does it take two guys to clear a drain ? Is running the sectional machine a two man job ?

He used the soap to keep his hands lubed holding the cable

                        YEP!

I was called out to do a locate. Hooked my transmitter up to the cable and couldn't get a reading anywhere in the parking lot. Nobody wanted to listen when I said the cable is inside the building somewhere.

They tried running both machines in tandem. Then tried to pull the cable out with a truck. Eventually the cable broke and they dug it up. Pulled the 100' of cable out of the building with a backhoe.

On the end of the cable was some shoestring, dryer sheets and a 15' extention cord.

Are you saying the cable jumped out of a drain and grabbed this stuff? Or was that in the drain?

No doubt that stuff was in someones living room before the plumbers arrived.

So far, none of the tenants has said anything
