  • Porch footings on orange-burg

Take a 34 family condo complex (former garden apartments), a 6" orange-burg sewer line, without warning 8 flooded basement condos. Speed-rooter 91, K60, jetter, and even General 88 would not get this stoppage open. They came out of the building in 6" CI, drove an orange-burg coupling on the end. Then built a set of concrete footings for the steps right on top of the orange-burg. Seperated the pipe and the roots took over. The footings pushed the pipe down over 6" over the years. Sewer lateral 9 feet deep. Had to cut down a big maple tree just to get a machine in to dig the line. Had a twelve foot wide hole in the parking lot. The day after thanksgiving probably the biggest mess I have seen in my 40 + years. Happy Thanksgiving CA-CHING.

all you had to say was 'orangeburg'.
This is my reminder to myself that no good will ever come from discussing politics or religion with anyone, ever.

The hole is 12 FT wide at the top and tapers down. There are 2 boxes(shoring) in the tench not shown in the pictures.

I don't care if you had twelve trench boxes in there, none of them
are in a position to protect the workers visible in the photos, so you
should have left them at the shop and saved the expense of dragging
them out to the job to spend on the lawyers for when someone gets buried alive.

We have only buried one person alive, our master plumber It was ugly too!!!! I just got out of the hole in time and before I could tell him that it was gonna go it went. It was kinda like a TV show where they show a crack running, I saw a crack start and it went fast.
