  • Septic tank not vented OK?

Years ago I helped a friend install his septic tank and leach field.
Other than roof vents, I recall no venting of the septic tank.
Does no vent pose a backpressure problem?
Or does the system rely on venting over the water slug to relieve any pressure?
    Thank you.
I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.
It ain't just soot, it's paydirt.

If the system is built correctly, it should vent just fine through the roof vents.

A vent at the end of the field is more of an inspection pipe than a vent. It can provide some venting, but it lets you see how well the system is processing or tell you what part of the systems isnt working. In a perfect world each leg or trench would have a vent for inpection.

Why do you ask after the fact.

        Thank you.
Asking because of the person having their clotheswasher flooding the rental property laundry room.
Is water rushing into septic tank too quickly causing back-pressure?

No. Check for a plugged drain. The vent pipe can plug too. Check to make sure it is open.

Lint? I would say Trent has it, the line is blocked. Or did you install a filter style outlet baffle?
