my customers calls me yesterday and says his sewer is backed up but mentions that the city was digging in the alley earlier in the week

i go out there and meet the contractor who is replacing 20,000' of 8'' ductile iron water main for the city he's the contractors nephew and was very nice to deal with. plus he was impressed with my timberwolf setup

i have a 6 year+ track record on this sewer. 4'' rear pool deck c/o to 18' at alley main. 15'-18' heavy roots.

so when i get in 10' and hit mud and polish my cutters and cable. i knew they hit the line the contractor calls in his digging crew. now remember this is a friday afternoon at 3

the foreman and his helper show up and immediately says they didn't hit the line of course i didn't want to camera a full line, because adding insult to injury wasn't necessary, plus all it would show is where i stopped.

the foreman was insistent they didn't hit it and i was insistent that i know this sewer like the back of my he wanted to know if the owner was going to pay if they dig and the line wasn't broken in their ditch that now has 4' of slurry and an 8'' water main on top of the sewer

told the homeowner to take pictures and call me when they expose the line. i had 2 more calls to get to.

was i worried no i knew they had to hit it or crush it. and when the phone rang an hour later, i was correct

rear pool deck cleanout that runs 18' total to city saddle.

my 2'' cutter and 1.25'' cable with mud and shiney at 11' in.

foreman on the hoe and helper getting ready to dig the 4' slurry filled trench and get under the new 8'' ductile water main.

                    Re: experiance counts

the pipe was broken under the water main trench at the 10-11' distance. they stuck around till 530 friday night to fix the pipe.

the owner tried to get them to finish to the city main at 18', but they were not interested in the extra work.

so i will continue to snake the line yearly.
