  • Quick question regarding cable ends....

I just purchased a used machine and it came with a 75ft 5/8" cable that has a Ridgid style end but I was told (and it seems like it's true) that there's a pin that goes through to hold the cable to the tool, another cable, etc.

    It's this style....(but with a pin)

Question is, who makes that style and where do I get the pins? What keeps it in place, etc? Any info is helpful!

http://www.allanjcoleman.com/ These guys can get you the punch stand, punch and the pins. The ends that use the punch pins are Spartan ends. The screw driver ends are Ridgid.

the spartan end is more secure, but in exchange it takes time to remove and reinstall a cutter end.

i had good luck using the spartan blade holder couplings on ridgid cables just by dressing them up with a file.

the ridgid male coupling is pretty spendy now. but the speed of changing blades is worth it.

what machine are you using that on? spartan 300

Actually it's a Marco ME-90 that I just picked up. Came with a 75ft Spartan (thanks Ratz ) cable and a 25ft with one broken end and one that I assume is Marco. I'm considering putting a coupling between the two to get 100ft and a Ridgid female end for the tools. Sound good?

I need to make a trip to JM McKinney soon

If it is marco cable it will not work. Marco cable is right hand wound and ridge and spartan are left. Marvin

Marvin is right on about Marco Cable. You can not put Spartan or Ridgid ends on the Marco cable due to the way its wound.

My old 3/4 Marco cable had the snap lock connectors
              each reel was 75ft
