The 400 footer was at a roller skating rink job was hell. No clean outs strait run from out side the bathroom from a clean out in the floor to the city sewer. Pulled out a tee shirt, tampons paper towels.
Ours was a big lots is Georgia...c/o at building across the parking lot...hit the stoppage couple feet from city main...burlap sack!

Did your dispatcher suck too lol. Favoritism big time. I would have to say the office manager Mr. "Know It all" I'm the best bla bla. When he got demoted to service tech Guy had so many recalls on such easy calls lol.
Yes I rubbed his face in it all the time guy was a JackAzz to everyone.

Naw...I was a horrible employee...I think I was called a boat rocker...had a thick file...I was always challenging recalls...picking fights...and yes accusing dispatchers of playing favorites....I can't believe I didn't get fired...only one good thing came out of that place...me quitting!!!

I had 100' of 5/8" sectional down a riser in a high rise once. That's was the last time I ever did that.

I'd be afraid the weight of the cable would suck it of my grip and down the chute

That's why you don't run a sectional on a high rise.

Thanks all. Good tip that I haven't seen mentioned before.

I have had a cable yanked from me and down the vent.

                          Elevator + Drum =

Back in Boston in some of the high rises I had electrical tape wrapped on the cable so I could guess how may floors down I was. Once line was clear run the water and come back with the power feeder. The cable could still take off on you and get hung up if you did not pay attention.

why would you ever have to go more than one floor down on a high rise?

I'm not being snippy, just honestly asking...

I dont see anything over 6 floors here. When a stack clogs, I do it from the flooded unit; that toilet is going to be closest to the clog. Why would you do it from somewhere upstairs?

and, re original post; Jetter with warthog or rr and cam as I go to make sure I got it all would have been my way... just easier and faster.
This is my reminder to myself that no good will ever come from discussing politics or religion with anyone, ever.

That's why we passed on the drain cleaning services to another company more equipped than us. We are only used in an emergency situation now, as we were going there once a week for main drain blockages.

We don't have a jetter, and at the time we didn't have a drum machine either. 6 floors isn't bad with a sectional...but you earn your paycheck for the day pulling the cable out.

usually in a high rise the tenant is only responsible for the distance of pipe that is still in his unit which is always less then 25 feet. if the plumber snakes past 25 feet the tenant can submit a reimbursement to the association which is responsible for the stack.

I seen where clogs start on the higher floors and a plumber will only push it further down the stack to lower floors, then the lower floors will call a plumber and they push it further down till as far as the snake will go.

I almost lost the rod one time and learned my lesson be careful when snaking the high rises
