Use a retriever auger go at it hook it and bring it back. It does take some practice, and there are a few different retrievers out there, I carry 4 different types.

When you say "hook it" are you catching the broken cable in the center of the cone retriever or are you catching it off the side in the spiral part ?

Well with the cone retriever and if I get lucky it will get caught in the center of the cone and act like a Chinese finger trap. but my Rothenberger, or marco retriever the idea is just hook it and drag it back.

Have any pictures of those ? My Spartan cone retriever is too large in the center to "Chinese finger trap" my .55 cable, lol !
