  • K-60 Noise

I plugged it in and ran it without a cable and it sounds like something is flopping around in it. Normal?

probably the clutch rubbing on the drive cone.

try running it with a cable or remove the clutch from the case.

I was honestly wanting to break it down while it was new anyway.

takes literally 60 seconds to remove the 2 allen screws holding on the cover and exposing the clutch. it's behind the plastic shield/ baffle that will catch lots of debris if you allow the debris to come back through the machine while spinning.

pretty simple task. just remember to align the 3 jaws of the clutch centered into the drive cone. a piece of 3/4'' copper will help if you need to center it. easy to tell when you eye down the center opening of the clutch that's it's properly centered and not off by 1 jaw.

Well that was pretty simple. Took the jaws out and back in, still noise. Took the jaws out and ran it, still noise. Wonder if they greased it? Anyway, its going to be replaced. No big deal. Still curious to know why but not curious enough since I am getting another one.

A few others have reported a loud noise from a brand new K60 machine. I wonder what's up with that?

I snugged up on the belt a bit and it quieted down a little but was still there. Everything seemed to be loose.
