Re: Protection from disease clearing sewers

The majority of my safety precautions are to protect my family and friends not myself.

To those of you that think that exposure is ok and somehow makes you stronger, I agree when it comes to normal people and raising babies , unfortunately drain cleaners are not normal, as a matter of fact I cant think of another profession that deals with situations that can endanger ones health more that is not heavily regulated...

I too have eaten a mouth full and had a bad week because of it but that does not make me Immune to anything, certainly not the things that can injure or kill you like:
      Hepatitis A,
pink eye (if the eyes are touched)
      Polio
      Typhoid
      Adenovirus
      Campylobacter infection
      Coxsackievirus (hand-foot-mouth disease)
      Enteroviruses
      E. coli infection
      Giardia infection
      Rotavirus
      Salmonella
      Shigella
      Tapeworms
      Toxoplasmosis

In our profession there is no such thing as a clean freak. The moral to the story is we drain cleaners get covered in $hit on a daily basis there is no stopping it. What we can control is if we seriously self infect ourselves through ingestion or if we make a family member sick.
