I just bought the new design K-6 Closet Auger. Didn't get the drop head as I don't like the drop head, had one break off on me once and had to push it out to the outside cleanout for retrieval. I think the drop head is over kill for clear a blockage on a water closet. Going to auger a toilet later today see how it compares to my 6' General Closet Auger

I've never had a drop head auger in my career, and I've pulled plenty of things out of toilets before with bulb heads.

However...I asked my dad this same question a week or so ago, and he said the only reason why he didn't have a drop head, is because the supply house was always out of them.

So, I only know bulb heads.

Pulling the toilet if it is severe.

The new K-6 worked great. Alot better than the older one. Not sure if it will replace my General Closet Auger, but Ridgid defiantly stepped it up with this new K-6. Need more jobs before I can review it.

The only weakness I found withy k-6 I that he handle is held on with one f those tap on caps. It's really no big deal, but my handle got pinned up by the wheel of my drain machine and popped the cap off. Less than $1 of parts and back clearing the nasties.
