I encourage the use of a plunger. That's why they call me,,, the Plungerman. Lol,,, no? It's easier and let's the customer know if they had a good plunger they could have saved money. If they are new customers I usually auger. But show them my plunger before I leave and tell them to get one and try it first before they call me next time.
Blow out a was ring? Either the clog is before it or after the vent nearly always. Sounds like job security ramble to me. Though there are exceptions to this rule. 8 pages of toilet auger talk? Lol,,, yes?

Saw this billboard at my plumbing supplier last week and of course I thought of this thread

American Standard has come out with a toilet that's going to put some of you out of business

Bill, that flush tower was a flop. Lasted a few years and they replaced it with a 3" traditional flush falve. Replaced my last one a few months ago. Too many little gizmos to fail. Plus you couldn't hold the handle open for a longer flush.

At 1 time they advertised a 10 year clog free warranty.

                Rick.

And that's exactly why I prefer the drop head over the bulb. That doesn't come back on the cable with a standard bulb head auger.

And did you have a discussion with the customer about their diet?

Yes it's a General auger. I have to order a new style 3' Ridged auger to give an accurate comparison and hopefully will do that soon.

                          Clipper ???

What is in the middle of the hair snag that is white? Looks like clippers for hair.

Tried out the continental 520 plunger today, and I'm not impressed at all.

Maybe I need to go back to plunging school 101, but this plunger is terrible on sinks.

Went and got my old plunger and and it cleared the soft blockage.

I agree, that plunger is a POS.

Never used one on a toilet but for a few other things this is the one I found to be the best.
