  • Diamond Pendant Recovery from bathroom gully

My wife dropped a diamond pendant I gave her at the birth of our first child, 14 years ago, down the floor waste drain today in the bathroom. The floor gullies in Australia have to be no deeper than 600mm so you can reach in with your arm and recover such items. Ours had to be over 1m (3 feet)! I would normally go for one of our many Ridgid cctv units but they were all at the office. I found an old pan and tilt camera in the shed at home and powered it up. To my amazement it still worked so I showed the family what dad does for a living, right before my wife was about to use the vacuum cleaner out of sheer desperation!

I saw a demonstration of the Wohler pan & tilt sewer cameras a few months ago. Pretty slick and at nearly 1/2 the cost of a Ridgid camera. It had a few drawbacks like the camera head size and a few others. Well made German product though.
