  • Blew out pvc

Kitchen sink clog, older home re-plumbed in PVC. Run 25 feet or so with 3/8 cable, several turns. Just for the heck of it I go back down to the basement and see a hole in the PVC.

The hole was in 1 1/2 Crestline brand PVC in a 4" horizontal just below a san tee going into a long 90.
WTF! It was a good size hole. I could possibly see cable going through a 90 or in old galvanized but not a vertical piece of PVC.

This brand of PVC brittle? Cracked before and just gave out now? Bad karma?

Cracked before is my guess. I've put in miles of Cresline
No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.
