Good eyes (and maybe some luck) to find the ring in all that crap

Why was the line holding water at first ?

Two weeks ago I had a guy call me to find a wedding ring that his wife sucked up with a central house vac. Found & located the ring about 20' out with my microDrain but there was no way for me to snag it with anything as I barely got the camera head around two 1 1/4" 90's.

He was still a happy camper, had to bust the wall open to retrieve.

I don't know. All that crap must have been something they had flushed and was maybe the "rest of the story" that they didn't tell me. We obviously thought it was a belly at first but once the muck was diluted and rinsed away the line didn't hold any water - no belly. I can't tell what it is but it didn't coat the equipment like black sewer sludge usually does. The cable and camera came back mostly clean.

???Potting soil??? ???Food??? Not sure. It diluted easily and disappeared in a matter of minutes with just a trickle of water.

Pulled toilet, camera'd through a lot of bends out to 69', then pulled back in and worked through outside cleanout, retrieved, reset and caulked toilet, packaged up, collected bill and triple redundant tip ($20 each for my brother and I upon retrieving the ring, before the bill was even made out, then both a bottled water and a Pepsi for each of us, and, just as we were leaving, they quick called in a milkshake / soft drink order to a little fast food joint they own for us to pick up). Total elapsed time: 2 hours on the nose.

I couldn't tell what was in the line either, but whatever it was kept it from making it to the city line! Nice job getting it back. When you do stuff like that, you are definitely a hero in the eyes of the customer.
