  • I Dislike Busy Restaurants.....

Soda/ice machine drains. 6" lines raised a few/several inches from the floor and sealed off with can spray insulating foam. I rodded through pic #1 and cable would come up on other side of building pic #3, rod from pic #3 and cable came up pic #1.

Even went outside & checked the grease trap which looked good.

All other drains were working fine even the 6" one on the top in pic #2.

Also, in pic #3 there is a 2" drain next to the 6" drain. Both are taking soda/ice water.

Place was super busy, they were in my way, I was in their way. Might be going back during slower hours.

    Any ideas.............???

The 6" line is just a conduit for the soda syrup hoses, co2 and water.

It's not a waste line. The 2" is the waste line.

        OK, now I know. ThanX

I also rodded the 2" line with no results but knowing it's full of snot I just couldn't get it done with all those people in there. The 2" line is right next to the drive up window and they wouldn't shut it down.

Bet it wouldn't be so busy if folks could get a good look at the kitchen.

Or most kitchens for that matter.

Could it be that the 2" line is open and there is a blockage where the 2" & 6" tie together ? I've never seen anything like this before, not sure exactly how it works.

              Yeah no kidding.

              Have you ever ran your J cable around a 2" 90 ?

The 2" is waste. The 6" is a conduit. They better not tie together.

What's backing up? The 2" line or 6" line?

If it's the 6" line, then it's a broken soda hose that runs inside of it. If it's the empty 6" line, that's a future conduit for point A to point B.

                Rick.

                        Oh, sorry.

                        No, I have not.

You have a lot of options in your equipment. I think you might do better with something else. That may not be a 90 below. Likely to be a p-trap that could give you problems.

The 2" line, if it comes from the soda drain, could be full of a jell like syrupy gook. I used to do maintenance at 7 elevens, and the slurpee and soda drains would be full of that stuff. What worked best for me was a shop vac.

Which is why I can recommend only a very few restaurants in my area. I saw one kitchen guy grab the plunger from the men's john to try to clear the food wash basin.

Keep the 2" line full and just watch for movement
