  • Cleaning A 1968, 1-1/2" Cast Iron Tub Drain (from overflow)

    My last thread got tangled.
Plumbing is like early Harley-Davidson (1936-1964). A lot of spigot and hub, plumb fuel-lines, flare and compression-fittings. Alignment the key to baffled-T and waste arms under the kitchen sink, etc..

I have a 1-1/2" cast iron tub drain to clean. It's slow, and I have a General shelf-sharpening "clog-choppa'" on it's way, drop-shipped to my shop from General via Ferguson (Indiana Pipe), maybe tomorrow.
However, the jetting post I've been reading here, warns of trying to push scoured-cast iron crud all the way down the line and getting stopped mid-way. cable-bound up with "cast iron soup".

I want to avoid that with my 5/16" Super-Vee, through the tub overflow (new, Kohler-brass) and down through the 1-1/2" underground P-trap and into the 1,000 gal.septic tank.
Has anyone used the General - clog-chopper
