  • scored used K-60 from ebay....but have a question/problem

Was happy to get my k60, will get some pics later, but is in great shape, looks like very little usage. I also got one basket of 7/8 cable.

The problem I have is I open up the jaws all the way and my 7/8 cable still won't fit, but it will grab and spin my 5/8 cable.

Are there different size clutches for the 60?

Assuming that you have the handle in the complete up posistion (sometimes they hang a little down) the 7/8 cable will fit right in. Maybe it's 1 1/4" cable? Never mind adjust the jaws all the way out, pull up on the handle and the 7/8 should push through.

ID:	15492Okay I have a few more to post. 7/8 won't go through machine, I took apart and took pics........everything look normal??
Also show cable size (it measures 7/8...) and what jaws look like when installed. When the jaw housing is just sitting on the machine, cable goes through, when you push it down the little bit to get cap screws started, just the little that the jaws close in prevent the 7/8 cable from entering. I have the adjustmetn knob all the way to the stop.

          Re: scored used K-60 from ebay....but have a question/problem

So my question still stands, why won't my 7/8 cable fit through the jaws? I ASSUME its not an 1 1/4 cable, see above pic with tape, and this show cable next to 5/8 cable.
my only thought is to grind some off the end of the jaws so they don't catch as quickly, which wouldn't close them down the little bit that seems to keep cable out.
The last pic is 5/8 cable through machine with jaws all the way open.

Any input would be appreciated.........would luv to get this beast out and try it.

Did you set the jaws to 7/8"?

Yep, adjusted all the way out, pulled up on handle and won't go through.
Seems I must be missing something.

Sorry but this is a tough one because it is so simple, jaws adjusted all the way out, handle up, insert cable, attach cutter and go.

try inserting a piece of 3/4'' copper/ 7/8'' od. great for aligning the clutch.

are you 100% sure that the adjusting collar is backed out 100% of the way. from your photo it doesn't look like there are enough threads showing on the adjusting ring.

ps i never tighten the allen wrench locking screw.
