    Re: What's this called?

It's a 1950's Big Ben Moon Beam alarm clock. It has a 25W bulb and the light blinks silently 5 minutes before the alarm is set tot go off...

Do I win some sort of prize?

Once again Newman wins. If you took it apart you could disable the buzzer and just have the flashing light. This alarm clock was great for people that were/are hard of hearing.

Now I have to get to work and come up with something that reall will stump everyone.

        Re: What's this called?

With this being in the main area for Electrical information, I found a picture of something that really may wake up the old timers. While I don't think it will be hard to know what this is in general, can anyone post some details about it? I have some info myself, but am going to keep that quiet for now. What I will tell you is that the insides of one of these is a true showing of quality. This will still be in use long after the new ones we buy today are long gone into the dumps. Please tell what you know about this item.

What is it? What company made it? Anthing else you know about them...etc.

I wish that I had some better pictures. This picture is from someone that used to work as a lineman years ago.

Right Brand and model. This one is a type 3 and look carefully at this second picture of it. This is not mine, but I wish it was. Note the ranges once you see the meter face and selector switch. I wish the owner had more pics of it including the back and some with a ruller beside it too. I was told that the movable jaw allows for up to a 2" OD conductor.

I'm going to have to get working on some real wild items for this post. Mine so far have been too easy.

                Re: What's this called?

So whaddya figure your local electrical inspector would say if he walked up to your electrical panel and saw one of those babies hooked in there?

Just tell them it was there before you put the new panel in and didn't want to disturb anything.

Come on everyone. Post your wild items here.

Can anyone figure out what this is called and what it's used for? I'll give you a hint and say that this might do better if posted over in the woodworking section of this forum.

Oh come on man you're killing me here...

it's a stud tweaker for straightening and persuading 2X's into nailing position...

How about this one standing in the corner looking nice? Got any good ideas about it? How do you go about using it? If it's powered, what powers it? By the way I want one if any of you know of one of these for sale in great working condition as per the one in the picture.
