this is hvac but you guys could help more. I got a condenser fan that doesnt run. It's getting power and the capacitor is good. I can smell the motor burning. The kicker is that I'm getting 200 ohms between S and C. That's way to high. How can the resistance increase between windings without having an open? I already replaced the motor and it works but still trying to figure out why the problem happended.
    Buy cheap, buy twice.

    Re: bad motor

On a new motor a cold soldier joint will cause high resistance, on an older motor a burnt winding (but not open yet) will cause high resistance.
