  • Photocell Replacement

A photocell operating 6 patio lights just went out. I've never messed with photocells before. And, I can't find a photocell by itself at HD or Lowes.

My question is: Since the area where the photocell is located is poorly lit and high (10 feet up), can I replace the photocell with a combo floodlamp/photocell? My concern is whether or not the photocell on a lamp is sufficient voltage to serve as a replacement. Also, I'm concerned that the existing photocell wiring might not allow for the installation of a lamp.

I really appreciate any help you can give. Being an old grandma, I'm getting more disinclined to mess with new things. LOL.
If it ain't broke, I haven't seen it.

Most of the time you can get a ophoto cell on/off switch from a electrical supply house. It is a common item found there. I assume you mean a switch that turns lights on at night and off in the morning. If you mean a motion detector that is something different. Lou
