220 baseboard heaters

  • 220 baseboard heaters

    I used 20AMP breaker 12-2 wire wall thermastat everything new & Im new at wiring going by B. & D. book. When I turn on my heater the electric meter outside goes wild(run very fast) any ideal why this could happen?

    Ok first off, baseboard heaters use up alot of juice, so yeah, they do make those meters spin off thier gears don't they? :}

    Anyway. For the heaters, how long are they, and what are thier rated wattage? Assuming standard 240 volt household voltage of course.

      the simple is, resistance heat takes a lot of power, and the meter spins when you use a lot of power,

          The guy probably has one of those old 100 amp meters too.
