My wife and I don't bother with such nonsense.
Just an expensive waste of money which can be lost or robbed or stolen.
(A woman lost a very expensive diamond out of her ring.)

I planted trees with the money we could have spent on rings.

Your ring could get caught on any number of things and cause/worsen injury.

I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.

Wedding rings are just a symbol of marriage and used in the ceremony. Nonsense to you, sensible to us.

I do agree in some professions a ring can be dangerous regardless of what kind of work you do. It's not like it's more dangerous for electricians. It is not.

Like Rick, I got a nice little 3/16" ball of red hot welding lava under my ring. It's amazing how fast they can burn down to the bone, while your doing everything in your power to get the ring off; to no avail.

My buddy put his gold ring across two computer terminals equipped with 230 AC volts. It's also amazing how fast gold can turn bright red.

It didn't cross my wife's mind to even ask if I wanted a ring until a friend asked the week before the wedding..... Other people were much more concerned about it than we were. She knows that with my lifestyle and work that rings and watches, and most metal on the body is just a bad idea. I've heard about a few old school JW's with burned in necklace scars from hooking up with 277+.... I never want to see it or be it............

As for fidelity...... I don't think a ring is what makes that happen.

I have been hearing these tales for 35 years. I have yet to see one accident involving jewelry. I have worked in residential and commercial, but mostly industrial.
Stories from the old timers still persist.

We had no rehearsal and show and no costumes.
Instead, we had a huge dinner at a restaurant which all of her relatives and friends attended.
Totally practical and it is amazing how many relatives she has! Most stillive in Yantai.(China)

Anytime I wear a watch, it gets damaged.

First time got my ring hung on an engine and just broke my finger. Second time got crushed on my finger and burned from a car battery shorted out, hurt like hell to cut that ring off. I am seriously considering the Tattoo option for my 36th aniversary this year. I can't wear any kind of ring now because my knuckle is a lot larger than my finger.

In China, ours was nothing more than filing out some forms and paying fees and taking legal photos for our "Chairman Mao Red book" -appearing marriage booklets.

This is what can happen when you slip climbing down
a ladder and your ring gets caught on something.

                          Can you say ouch!!!!

Carbide will shatter and is not conductive but personally I don't think rings are appropriate at the work place because of the danger involved. We knew a guy who lost a finger jumping out of the back of an army truck when his ring got caught on a bolt. My buddy owns a carbide wedding ring and his has shattered twice. Both of those guys are in the army reserves.

Clearly a very serious injury and you can tell the ring is responsible. All I said was I have never seen any serious accidents or had any myself. I may have gone to far using the word "tales". But anyone that's been in this trade or any other trade for 30 plus years has heard many stories that really never check out. Thanks for the picture. Its a good reminder of what COULD happen.
