  • How many circuits can I run to my attached garage?

I currently only have one 20amp circuit going to my attached garage running 2 lights and 4 receptacles. I would like to run another 20 amp circuit off the main to power a few tools etc. I have 5 empty spots on the main, Is there a limit in regards to code how many circuits I can run?

Yes. You can run only one circuit to a detached structure.
Thing is, a multi-wire branch circuit is two circuits sharing a neutral, and in this instance in the eyes of the code it is considered one circuit.

How is the circuit run to the garage?

      I have an "attached" garage.

Then you can run as many (circuits) as you want. The smart way is to install a sub panel.

OK, Thanks for the reply. I only need one more circuit and the main panel is located only a few feet from the garage in the basement. I read plenty about only one circuit allowed to a "detached" garage but couldn't find much about a attached one.
