  • Battery-powerd LED lights for inside cabinets?

Electrical code prohibits 120 V inside cabinets and also prohibits lamps which can get hot.

I wanto make LED lights turn on inside when a base cabinet door is opened.

Anyone know of battery-powered LED lights which I could mount inside the cabinets which disperse light?
The beam of LED flashlights is too narrow/concentrated.

The lights illuminate when a magnet switch contact closes as its door-mounted magnet pulls away.

    Thank you.

I'd take an educated guess - but I'm unqualified.

The only battery powered leds I've seen are self contained.

I'm not a licensed electrician but I have 120vac in 2 cabinets in my kitchen. One outlet powers the range hood (now a microwave) and the other has 2 circuits for the dishwasher and disposal. So not sure about the code based on that, house was built and inspected that way..... But, you could use low voltage led lighting. Cool to the touch and 12 volts. You could wire your own switch to the door to provide the operation you are looking for.

I have some similar to this made by a different company. We use them in the RV bathroom. Open the door and the lights come on.

              Thank you.
I'd like them to come on whenever a door is opened - using magnet switches.
No reaching in and having to turn the light on.
Wal-Mart has a 120 V. LED motion-sensor light which I installed in the kitchen sink base. (Must rewire the duplex outlet for the garbage disposer so the top outlet is always hot. I discovered that both are switched. Thought one was always hot for a hot water dispenser.)
