Kitchen cooktop was replaced with gas. Can one side of its 220V circuit be used?

    Can't say I have ever seen that done but as long as all the strands are under the breaker clamp, I believe it is OK. What I would have done is Pigtail a piece of #12 onto the #6 with a wire nut and terminated the #12 on the breaker.
