  • re-wiring compressor

Hey everyone, need some advice here I'm changing my husky 20 gallon compressor from 110 volt to 220 volt I understand moving the wires on the motor, my question is the pressure switch does it have to be changed also? I can post pics if needed

A switch is a switch. It doesn't care what the voltage is.

      Re: re-wiring compressor

if you are pulling the full load of the compressor through the switch make sure that the full load amps of your motor is less than the rated capacity of the switch. the capacity of the switch is usually listed someplace on the switch or cover. the motor rating is listed as FLA. LRA is what you get at motor startup or when it is seized.

The ampacity will be cut in half when the OP changes the voltage from 120V to 240V. So exceeding the full load amps will not be a problem.

I did that to my compressor last year and also noticed besides not seeming to work as hard was a lot more quit.
