  • Wall Oven Electrical Connection

Hello electricians. We are in the process of replacing our wall oven/microwave combo. Upon removing the old unit, we found the electrical conection to be a std 4x4 box laying loose in wall cavity behind the oven. Is this code? Shouldn't there be access to the electrical box without removing the oven, and shouldn't the box be fastened to something. Thanks for your expertise.

Yes, it must be firmly secured and accessable. Not consealed behind the drywall (Its considered accessable mounted behind the stove) The nm should not be exposed. And a mounted wall oven can not be on one of the two small appliance branch circuits (20amp).

Use a properly grounded outlet to install an electric wall oven. This outlet should have a circuit breaker or a fuse with the proper amperage.
