  • Recessed lights and dimmers

Thanks for all the great advice in advance. I have purchased recessed LED lights for our kitchen, and the instructions state that these lights are dimmable to 5% with select dimmers, and 4 Lutron dimmers are listed. My question is, can other dimmers be used such as the Adorne Legrand Dimmer, or must I only use the dimmers that are listed? I am installing the Utilitech Pro IC rated Swivel Recessed Lighting Kit, these are 4 inch lights. The Adorne Legrand Dimmer is a one pole, 3 way, 450 watt. Would using a dimmer not listed in the instructions damage our lights?

I recommend using the listed ones. It will work to an extent, but dimming range will be less and you can experience flickering and other obnoxious things; like setting the dim level and it not coming on by by the switch unless you play with the dim level every time.
