  • Metal Halide to LED

What would be the equivalent wattage Led to replace a 175 watt metal halide fixture and get the equivalent amount of light. These are outdoor fixtures if that matters.

It appears to vary among the suppliers that I looked at on Google. Some say their 45 Watt LED others say 60 Watt and others to up to 90 Watt.

as much as you can safely fit into the housing would be a good suggestion.

Thanks for the response. We are planning on replacing the whole fixtures. 8 for now to start. Our electrician says 100 watt led should give about the same amount of illumination as the 175 Mh so that sounds about right. Thanks again for the help.

. 175 watt MH lamps are 15-17 K Lumens. Find a fixture that will produce that instead of using wattage.

You should measure light in lumens or candle power. The efficiency of the fixture can vary widely. Standard 175 MH lamp is around 10,000 lumens and pulse start MH is a bit over 15,000 lumens.
