  • Low voltage wiring

My basement located air to air heat exchanger is hooked up to 5 wall switches - one in the kitchen, one in the laundry room, and 1 in each of the 3 bathrooms. Each of the electrical boxes has 2 sets of wires running through them, 1 black and 1 white from one side and the same leaving the box going to the next electrical box. Each box has a switch in it that has the black wire hooked up to one of the switch terminals and the black wire going to the next box is connected to the other terminal on the switch. The 2 white wires that are in each box are twisted together and a mar connecter turned on to these 2 white wires

The first of the five switches works but the 4 others do not.

Any one know what is wrong with this setup and how to fix?

I doubt it is wired the way you think. If it were all 5 switches would have to be on for the unit to work. It should be wired so any one switch can operate the unit. There must be a junction box near the unit were the wires are terminated.
