winter is a commin, but where are all the other hvac guys? no new threads? no more issues at work? either we have streamlinned our trade or are people sick of homeowner trying to repare heatpumps or high efficient appliences by themselves. sure most threads were on flamemaster furnaces and plugged comndinsate drains but lets get the love back. lets get some numbers back in here and have a pro hvac corner, no home owner questions just trades talking shopp

use the dampers that have a wing nut on both sides and male them tite.

and when you put the collar on the duck make sure the damper blade is going with the air flow when it is open and not so it is at a 90* to the air flow or the air will push against it and close it.

                  is for metal duct .

if so we use air tite collars that have a sticky foam seal and then you screw it in to .

I think snappy makes damper kits, I used to take a one stud damper and use half the kit to make it a two stud damper. you just use a hammer to put them on the damper.

Re: where have all the cowboys gone

I use Duro Dyne damper quadrants when I need to make volume dampers for square or rectangular. Pretty much everyone makes dual bearing round dampers, but not everybody stocks them. Just get a single bearing with a handle and run a screw through the handle into the pipe after you have it adjusted.

most of the local wholesalers make their own dampers in house and will only bring in zoning dampers. they are just a round peice of light gauage with a peice od rod through it, you make a couple of holes across from eachother and slide the rod through. there are no threads to add tension to the damper. i cant afford the time to make my own
