    Re: Maytag HVAC ?

is there anything wrong with the ducting in the picture below.. particularly the return to the furnace? We have been told its not right

Also, We have also been told that lining the plenum with a neoprene like material will make the air blowing sound thru the rest of the ducts alot quieter.. opinions ? thanks again for everyones help.. we are getting there in out fight to get what we paid for. The outside unit sounds like it may have to be replaced completely.. hope so.. 6 months of cruddy sleeps is enough

The owner/user manuals which come with the new furnace include installation instructions. You should have been given all this, but we know how that works! What is the make and model of the furnace? Some manufacturers make these available online.

The sheet metal looks surprisingly good Ron. Theres a few things I could nitpick but overall it looks really good. The outdoor unit and the lineset are a different story. With the way they have the lines ran in front of the blower door, it doesnt look like you will be able to get the blower out. Either way, the lineset should be made to look a little more sanitary.

With the info you have posted, the ductwork is not undersized enough to cause excessive noise if the blower speed is set correctly. Blower speed needs to be checked! It should be set to move 1200cfm even if that is low or medium low. This thing might be trying to pump out 2000cfm and could be the cause of all your problems.
