    Re: Baseboard heating fins

On any no heat call where i need to remove the baseboard cabinet i do inspect to make sure proper convection is not impeded by pet hair buildup, dust etc and recommend to the homeowner to annually run a vaccuum over them if they can.

I knew an old timer that would run a torch across the fins and burn the dust and hair off. Stunk the house up to high heaven.

the reason i bought this up is because i don't think alot of HO's or service companies pay any attention to this.

i have used a shop vac and a air compressor to clean the fins out.

one problem i have found when doing this is taking the cabinet apart and putting it back together without stratching the cabinet or furniture.
